The West Dart History Group share news of their upcoming event about the Georgian cloth industry of Exeter and Devon later this month.

“The West Dart History Group’s next event is on Wednesday March 15th at 7pm in Ashprington Village Hall, when Dr Todd Gray of Exeter University will be talking about ‘The Georgian Cloth Industry of Exeter and Devon’, on which he is a leading authority.

Todd has spoken to us on several occasions in the past, including a memorable account of the fire which destroyed the Royal Clarence Hotel in Exeter. Had it not been for Todd’s personal knowledge of the buildings surrounding the hotel, which he passed on to the Fire Brigade, the fire might have destroyed them too.

Please join us to listen to one of Devon’s finest and most articulate historians. New members are always welcome.”
