There are lots of ways to join in celebrations throughout the parish to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee between 2nd and 5th June 2022.

Programme of celebrations across the weekend

Thursday 2nd June

Village Hall Celebration – 10.30am – 12 noon

With cakes, tea and coffee at £2 per head.

Opening of the Jubilee Garden – 12.30pm

The opening of a dedicated Jubilee Garden in Ashprington Cemetery.

Friday 3rd June

At your own leisure, a gentle stroll around the villages following our Queencrow trail (see below) and / or completing a treasure hunt quiz. Details of the Queencrow route and treasure hunt quiz entries and answers will be in the bus shelter in Ashprington.

Saturday 4th June

Ash Meadow Fun Day – Picnic and BBQ from 12.30pm

We’re lighting the BBQ so everyone, young and less young, single or family, can come and cook their own food or bring a picnic. Bring your Queencrow if you prefer. Contact Ian Bentlett (ianben7070@gmail.com).

Ash Meadow Fun Day – Community Games – 2.00 – 4.00pm

Enjoy some community party games and unusual races, including our famous raw egg throwing competition, and the judging results of Queencrow entries.

Evening concert – 6.00pm – St David’s Church, Ashprington

Sunday 5th June

Jubilee Service – 11.15am – St David’s Church, Ashprington

A  Sumptuous Tea – 3.00pm – Ashprington Village Hall

Other activities include a Jubilee Gin Festival with music and entertainment at The Durant Arms in Ashprington over the course of the weekend.

About the Queencrow competition

This is a traditional scarecrow competition for all ages to build a royal scarecrow featuring any part of Her Majesty’s 70 year reign. Let us know where your is displated by Wednesday 1st June so it can be featured in the Queencrow trail, or bring yours to Ash Meadow on Saturday 4th June at 12.30pm for judging later that day. An announcement of winners and prizes will be made after the tug-of-war event. Please contact Kathi Green (kcgreen67@gmail.com) for details and entry to the contest.
