Ashprington WI is a friendly, informal group. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Come along and listen to one of our inspirational, educational or entertaining speakers (sometimes all 3!), enjoy a WI late tea and make some new friends.

We meet at 7.30pm in the Village Hall on the second Wednesday of the month. After a short business section our speaker has the floor for about 45 minutes, followed by light refreshments. The subjects are very wide-ranging so we hope to please some of our members some of the time. From time to time we have a light-hearted competition relevant to the evening’s topic.

Apart from our monthly meetings we enjoy other activities including First Friday walks, craft sessions, lunches, quizzes, bowls, visits to local houses and gardens, outings to the theatre and cinema.

Every other year we award a bursary. This enables a member to attend an educational course, either at the WI’s Denman College or somewhere else of their choice.

The annual membership for 2018 is £41. Members receive a monthly “Devon WI News” and a quarterly magazine, “WI Life”, from the National Federation.

Members can attend meetings with other local Institutes, the annual spring and autumn Devon County meetings and the national Annual Meeting in June.

Ashprington W.I.We were founded in 1965 and have around 40 members. We belong to the Devon Federation of WIs which has over 7000 members in nearly 240 Institutes. Together with Cornworthy, Dartington and Diptford Institutes we are the Dart Vale Group. As a Registered Charity we support our local community through fund-raising events.
