Minutes of the Meeting Held Thursday 8th January 2026 @ Ashprington Village Hall – 7.30pm
1) Open Forum – no points raised.
2) Present Cllr R Rogers (Chairman), Cllr P Thompson, Cllr K Throgmorton, Cllr L Stocks, Cllr S Greaves.
Attended by – Ian Bentlett (Ashmeadow).

5) Previous Minutes
Minutes of the meeting held Thursday 4th December 2025.
The minutes have been distributed and read. Proposed by Cllr K Throgmorton and seconded by Cllr L Stocks with all in agreement. Duly signed by the Chairman – Cllr R Rogers.
6) Matters Arising
a) Thermal Imaging Camera Loan – South Dartmoor Community Energy have confirmed that Ashprington are on the waiting list but loan of the Camera in January is fully booked so a date is still awaited. Cllr L Stocks confirmed that the Camera loan has been advertised and there has been come interest from Parishioners.
b) Damaged Silver Jubilee Bench – Cllr K Throgmorton will look at the bench and report back.
c) Ashmeadow New Mower Insurance – The Clerk confirmed that the new mower is covered under the Parish Council insurance now, there was no more premium to pay, however if the mower has to be taken onto a road it will need a vehicle insurance, this needs to be kept in mind for future use.
7) Reports.
a) County Councillor – no report given.
b) District Councillor – no report given.
c) Ash Meadow Recreation Ground – Ian Bentlett reported – the new strimmer has arrived and new mower is coming this month. Currently the loan of up to £8000 from the Parish Council has not been claimed but there will be money needed for new composting bays, a grant from SHDC for these will also be looked into.
d) Tree Warden.
e) P3 Co-Ordinator.
f) Defibrillator Group – Cllr S Paterson reported by email – In terms of a defib update, I’m due to complete handover with Jonny Gurr very shortly. I would also appreciate if it were possible to thank The Durant Arms for a £150 donation from their December community quiz night fundraiser which has been transferred to the Parish Council account.
g) Emergency Plan – Cllr K Throgmorton reported – tonights red warning for wind has missed the Parish. The Grit Bin at Bow Creek Close has been refilled. Chairman – Cllr R Rogers asked if the Bin at Yetson could also be filled as its been used in the recent spell of cold weather.
h) Village Hall – Cllr L Stocks – Xmas lights to be stored in the Village Hall. Many thanks to Cllr Rogers, Throgmorton and the Tractor Fest Group for putting up the lights.
i) Dart Harbour Commissioning Group.
j) Dog Bin in Duncannon Lane – Cllr S Greaves reported that the bin is working well and is being used. The Clerk to ask SHDC if it was added to the street cleansing round how much would it cost the Parish Council.
8) Planning Applications / Matters.
Applications received from South Hams District Council –
a) Application no 3720/25/LBC & 3719/25/HHO – Jasmine Cottage TQ9 7UW – Listed and Householder Consent to replace the asbestos roof tiles & make the driveway and garden steps more accessible. The Parish Council Support the application – all in agreement.
Decisions received from South Hams District Council –
a) Tree Works Granted – Application no 3291/25/TCA – Tuckenhay House TQ9 7EQ – Trim & Crown Reduce – X1 Oak, X2 Cherry, X3 Yew.

10) Highways
a) Street Sweeper – noted has been to Ashprington but not down into Tuckenhay, the Clerk to find out when Tuckenhay is to be done.
b) Drains at bottom of Bow Creek have been cleared by the lengthsman, the top road along from Bowden House there are several places which need unblocking.
c) Hedge Cutting – letters have gone out to any overhanging hedges on the Highway.
d) Mud on the Road by Bow Bridge House has been reported on DCC website.

Parish Precept 2026/2027 – £15,500.00 – proposed by Cllr K Throgmorton and seconded by Cllr P Thompson with all in agreement.
Cost per Household on a Band D property – £54.28
